Teaching

The Leukemia/BMT Manual will be provided to each fellow and will be made available via the Leukemia/BMT and BCCA web sites.

A database of current protocols will be available via the Leukemia/BMT and the BCCA web sites (this page under construction).

Teaching conferences and activities will include:

  1. New patient conference (Monday afternoon)
  2. Sign-out rounds and outpatient conference (Friday afternoon)
  3. Wednesday teaching conference: This conference is organized by Dr. Maryse Power. Each Leukemia/BMT faculty will be expected to present 3 conferences per year and fellows will be asked to present 1-2 conferences per year. Additional conferences will be conducted by outside speakers and members from other VGH or BCCA programs.
  4. Other rounds that fellows may also attend are:
    • Friday Noon Hematology Journal Club
    • Friday Afternoon ad hoc Protocol Review Rounds
    • Monthly Hematology Lecture Series with guest speakers
    • Lymphoma Rounds and Solid Tumors Rounds in the Vancouver Clinic of the BCCA as well as a number of research rounds at the Terry Fox Laboratory, including the Friday Afternoon Work-in-Progress (WIP) Sessions.
  5. An archive of PowerPoint versions of the conference presentations will be maintained by the Program Administrator for the fellows to access via the Leukemia/BMT Program Portal.
  6. An archive of relevant Leukemia/BMT articles in pdf format will be assembled by the faculty and fellows and be made accessible via the Leukemia/BMT Portal.

Other Resources

Internet access to Entrez-Pubmed, Now-Up-To-Date and e-mail will be provided to facilitate patient care, research and conference preparation.

Office space and computer access will be provided for dictation, patient care, journal searches and research.
